Frontiers in the Chemistry of Materials is a ten week undergraduate summer research program that unites the enthusiasm of current graduate students at the University of Texas, the dedication of the university's established faculty, and a top academic environment to create an innovative summer program aimed at training future scientific leaders. The program builds on the emerging research strengths of the Departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at UT Austin, and couples intensive training and research-focused mentoring of students to undertake research projects related to the discovery, design, development and characterization of new materials. The three primary research areas include: (i) development and applications of biomaterials, (ii) design, characterization and applications of energy materials, and (iii) innovative methodologies and instrumentation for materials characterization. The summer program will conclude with a symposium hosted by the College of Natural Sciences. |
